A constitutional referendum was held in Turkey on 16 April 2017 on whether to approve 18 proposed amendments to the Turkish constitution that would abolish the office of Prime Minister and existing parliamentary system of government and replace it with an executive presidency and a presidential system. The referendum was held under a state of emergency that was declared following a failed military coup attempt in July 2016. Those voting "yes" ("evet") were largely supporters of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Many voting "no" (hayir) believed that the proposed measures would result in an authoritarian government under President Erdogan. The video and photos here were taken in the cities of Antalya (the day before voting) and Konya (the evening after voting).
